Girths

Girths are used to attach a saddle to the horse. You have different types of girths, regular girths as well as dressage girths that are shorter. Dressage saddles often have longer girth legs, this also applies to bareback pads. Here too you usually use a dressage girth.

A girth is often anatomically shaped and soft on the horse's belly so it won't chafe. 

Sometimes there is also elastic incorporated into the girth or it is lined with fur for sensitive skin.
